Filup Groft is a true Renaissance man: a singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, producer, and host who defies easy categorization. Born into a deeply musical family, he's had music in his DNA from the very beginning. Trained in the Phoenix Boys Choir from the age of ten, Filup is a natural-born music man. He picked up the piano at that same age and is entirely self-taught. He soon started writing his own music, honing a gift for storytelling built on sweeping melodies and lyrics that tug at the heartstrings.
His stage career reads like the greatest hits of American musical theatre. Filup spent over five years touring with the Broadway hit Chicago and the first National Tour of Oklahoma!, performing in all fifty states and venturing overseas for a three-month international residency in Tokyo. He also toured with CATS as Mr. Mistoffelees. Some of his favorite credits include Riff in West Side Story and the soaring title role in Peter Pan.
As a principal singer and guest entertainer for Norwegian Cruise Lines and Holland America, he performed throughout the Caribbean, Central and South America, and spent a year living in Hawaii, entertaining aboard two ships that sailed the islands.
New York City has been a beloved stage of its own. Filup held a residency at the Metropolitan Room and graced the stages of The Duplex, the Laurie Beechman Theatre, Don't Tell Mama, and many more of the city's most storied venues.
Beyond performing, Filup has built a reputation as a gifted producer and host. He's immersed himself in the art of curation, bringing his own variety shows to life at venues all across New York City and hosting each one with the warmth and magnetism that only a seasoned entertainer can bring.
As a recording artist, Filup draws inspiration from the musicians who shaped him, from Sara Bareilles and Lady Gaga to Billy Joel and Stevie Wonder, channeling their influence into songs that are undeniably, beautifully his own.
